Governing Law

The Historical Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Selectmen to three-year terms. The Commission is governed by Massachusetts General Law: Chapter 40 Section 8D.

Open Day at the Burying Ground

The next open day for the 1726 Old Burying Ground (OBG) will be May 2026 f. We will likely be repeating our special tour of last year  of Revolutionary War Era graves in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The OBG, the last remnant of the original town center, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located on Pleasant St at the intersection with William St.
