STONEHAM SWITCHBOX ART PROJECT

2013-2014

OVERVIEW

We are a group of local volunteers who have admired the eye-catching artwork that decorates public utility switchboxes in other towns such as Malden, Medford and Somerville.  Our goal is to mobilize local artists, including schoolchildren, to design and paint Stoneham boxes.  This project would allow a broad cross-section of citizens in Stoneham to demonstrate community pride by working together to create vibrant scenery and conversation pieces where now there are only monochrome utility boxes.

The Selectmen have given their blessing and we are fundraising for the paint supplies.

Now we need local volunteers to create and execute clever designs for the local switchboxes. Beyond having artistic talent, our only requirement is that you live, work or volunteer in Stoneham.

The application and guidelines are included on this site. Thank you for your interest.
