Stoneham Board of Selectmen – Minutes of Meeting of November 18, 2008

Pledge of Allegiance

Approve Minutes

Selectman Rotondi moved approval of the 10/28/08 minutes, seconded by Selectman Sweeney.  Motion was unanimously voted.  Selectman Rotondi moved approval of the 10/14/08 minutes, seconded by Selectman Sweeney.  Voting was 4-0-1, with Selectman Rotondi abstaining.  Motion carried.

Request for Site Plan Extension/Cafua Management Co/2 Lynn Fells Parkway

Atty. Houghton was present to represent Cafua Management Co in its request for a one-year extension for the site plan at 2 Lynn Fells Parkway.  Selectman Sweeney moved to grant the extension, seconded by Selectman Rotondi.  A roll call vote was taken.

Motion was unanimously voted.

Accept Donations

Selectman Sweeney read the list.  Selectman Rotondi moved to accept the donations and that letters be sent.  Motion was seconded by Selectman Sweeney and unanimously voted.

Approve Site Plan Decision Letter/225 Fallon Road

Selectman Rotondi moved approval of the 225 Fallon Road site plan decision letter, seconded by Selectman Sweeney.  Voting was 4-0-1, with Selectman Gregorio abstaining.  

Tax Rate Public Hearing

Selectman Vallarelli read the Notice of Hearing that was advertised on 10/29/08.  Brian Macdonald, Director of Assessing, gave a presentation.  He said the Board of Assessors recommends .9305 or a CIP shift of 155 which would result in 18.12 tax rate for Commercial/Industrial and Personal Property and 10.88 for Residential/Open Space.  Chairman DePinto opened the hearing to the public.  Selectman Rotondi moved to accept the recommendation for a Residential rate of 10.88 and a Commercial rate of 18.12.  Motion was seconded by Selectman Gregorio, and a roll call vote was taken.

Motion was unanimously voted.

SWP Realty Corp./125 Main St/Site Plan Hearing

Selectman Gregorio read the Notice of Hearing that was advertised on 10/29 and 11/5/08.  Atty. Steven Cicatelli was present to represent SWP Realty Corp. in its petition to convert two (2) sections of the existing building from a restaurant use and personal service establishment use to a sixty-four (64) seat restaurant use on the property located at 125 Main street, Stoneham, MA on land owned by said SWP Realty Corp., 125 Main Street, Stoneham, MA 02180.

The Board read the department recommendations from Public Works, Board of Health, Police, Fire, and Building Inspector.  Chairman DePinto opened the hearing to the public.  Selectman Rotondi moved approval of the site plan.  Chairman DePinto added two years for completion.  Motion was seconded by Selectman Sweeney, and a roll call vote was taken.

Motion was unanimously voted.

Chairman DePinto said if seniors qualify for the tax credit and they don’t file, he will prepare it for them.

Selectman Rotondi moved to adjourn, seconded by Selectman Sweeney.  Motion was unanimously voted.

Meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
