RECYCLING POLICY

Recycling bins are collected every other week on your regular trash collection day.  Certain sections of Town are assigned blue recycling bins and other sections are assigned red recycling bins that are collected on alternating weeks.

The following materials must be placed in separate containers and cannot be mixed with regular trash.  Papers must be securely tied or packed to prevent blowing over the street.
Newspapers and newspaper inserts, magazines, phonebooks
Tin cans and aluminum cans
Glass bottles and jars
Plastics

Container Requirements

The contractor is required to collect from all standard recycling containers all newspapers or magazines placed loosely tied with string or placed in paper bags.  The contractor will also be required to collect comingled recyclables from containers that hold recyclables only.

Yard Waste / Christmas Trees/ Curbside Pickup

In the spring and fall, the town has curbside collections for yard waste (no brush or limbs) (see Curbside Leaf Pickup for schedule); and one collection in January for Christmas trees only (no tinsel or plastic bags), (see Christmas Tree pickup schedule).

Yard waste must be brought to the Stevens Street Recycling Center – (see Stevens Street Recycling Center for seasonal hours of operation). A recycling sticker is required (7/1 - 6/30) from the DPW for Stevens Street.

White Goods / TVs / Monitors / Miscellaneous Metal

These items require separate disposal permits (recycling sticker required; fees apply, see Stevens Street Recycling Center). Once the permit is issued the items(s) can be taken to the Stevens Street yard during the hours of operation. Additionally, the Town’s contractor, Hiltz Disposal, for a fee, will pick up white goods curbside.  Call 1-978-283-3335 for more information.
