Director of Public Health
The Stoneham Board of Health is seeking qualified applications for the position of Director of Public Health for a population of 24,000. The Director works under the administrative direction of the Stoneham Board of Health; operates and manages the everyday operations of the Board of Health Department; works in accordance with applicable provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, State Sanitary Codes, local ordinances and Board of Health rules and regulations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: plans, promotes and coordinates all public health services, community sanitation programs, influenza clinics, infectious and communicable disease prevention programs. The Health Director will oversee all permits and licensing, site plan review; prepare annual budget, participation in emergency preparedness planning; will also conduct the following inspections: all food establishments, public/semi-public swimming pools, housing, and recreational camps. The Director will also investigate all nuisance, housing and noisome trade complaints; will provide professional expertise to the Board of Health.
Minimum requirements include: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, environmental science or related environmental health field; 3 - 5 years experience in a supervisory position of Public Health; possess the following licenses: Massachusetts Registered Sanitarian (RS), Registration as a Certified Health Officer (CHO), Certified Pool Operator and Certified Food Manager, Massachusetts Class D license. Salary range is $55,000 to $65,000 based on qualification.
