STONEHAM MINI-CHORALE TO SING
This talented group of Stoneham women will entertain on the evening of Thursday June 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Senior Center. This delightful program will be led by conductor Tudor Bota, a gifted pianist in his own right. Light refreshments will be served.This performance is sponsored by the Senior Center Friends.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP
Howie Porter leads a monthly support group for patients living with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) on the first Thursday of each month. Meet on June 2 at 1:00 p.m. The purpose is to provide the Parkinson's community with a safe environment to obtain support, information, education and to create awareness about PD.

POSITIVE THINKING WORKSHOP RETURNS

The Senior Center Friends are thrilled with the response to this uplifting workshop and are pleased to offer it again, free of charge. Join Cheri Callanan, Wellness Consultant, for a series of six workshops that include simple daily techniques, breathing/meditation techniques, various motivational quote/story topics with discussion and active participation. The remaining dates are Friday June 3, 10, 17, 24 from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Please pre-register by calling 781-438-1157.

PARKSPASS PROGRAM – Wondering where to take your friends and family this summer? Think about visiting a state park. The Massachusetts DCR ParksPass
provides unlimited day-use parking at state park facilities that charge a day-use fee. The Massachusetts Senior Citizen ParksPass is available to state residents 62 years
of age or older. The pass allows parking for the vehicle occupied by the pass holder, whether they are driving or a passenger. These passes are free of charge and valid
for the life of the pass holder. Learn about this program on Friday June 10 at 1:00 p.m.

ORAL HISTORY – The fifth grade students at Colonial Park School seek seniors interested in sharing their thoughts about the way things used to be and the way
they are now. These delightful young children created a list of questions to start a conversation. Think about it…these youngsters can’t imagine a world without instant
communication! If you would like to participate in this intergenerational project contact Maureen Canova at 781-438-1157. The proposed dates are Monday June 13 or Friday June 17 either at the Senior Center or at the Colonial Park School.

AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM
Brush up on your driving skills at this six hour program offered by AARP on Wednesday June 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The aim of this program is for older drivers to better understand the updated technologies in new vehicles, provide a refresher on rules of the road and learn strategies to compensate for age-related changes in vision, hearing and response time. There is no test and no actual driving. A certifi cate of completion will be awarded to each participant. The cost is $12 for AARP members
and $14 for non-members. {Editor’s comment: I took it…very worthwhile}. You must pre-register by calling 781-438-1157.

PERK UP YOUR WARDROBE FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Join us for a ‘fund’ filled afternoon for the Spring/Summer Line fashion Show with live models. Have you ever wondered how to put together an outfi t? Fashion consultants will be available to show you how to look great and feel the same. All you need is a few
pieces of versatile, easy to care for clothing. Outfi ts will be available to order at the show. Light lunch and refreshments will be served as you enjoy your afternoon of fashion on Friday June 17 from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Donation is $10 which will benefit the Senior Center.

REBUILDING ROUNDS PLAYGROUND - Design Day – A group of local mothers are determined to put the A.P. Rounds Playground back on the map. They want to create a wonderful playspace at the corner of Broadway and MacArthur Road for all children and the community. By including everyone on the design process the playground will be
a great place for everyone from newborns to seniors. Now is your chance to describe what you would like to see at the A.P. Rounds…. perhaps more activities for your grandkids, a bocce court or horseshoe pit for seniors. Stop by on Thursday June 23 between the hours of 6 and 9:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

FRIDAY FOLLIES
Back by popular demand ~ a revue of your favorite tunes for listening and dancing. Gary Leanues returns on Friday June 24 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wear your dancin’ shoes or just sing along; either way you will have a fun afternoon enjoying Gary’s musical repertoire and fi ne vocal talents. Punch and hors d’oeuvres will be served. $5 pp. Come early for a good seat. Call 781-438-1157.

BARN SALE OPENS FOR 23 WEEKS

Our "Bargain” Barn will open for the season every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through October 7. We’re accepting donations for our Barn Sale, so please drop off your unwanted glassware, dishes, vintage jewelry, small furniture, lamps, books, puzzles, movies, music, board games, mirrors, artwork, frames and other collectible items. Antiques are always appreciated!  NO ”junque”, clothes, baby toys or furniture, electronics or large furniture, please. Leave your donations in the Senior Center between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

GROCERY SHOPPING FOR SENIORS Are you a homebound senior who finds it
difficult to make it to the grocery store? Do you have mobility issues that make shopping
for food hard? Are you in a temporary health situation that makes it impossible to go to the grocery? The Stoneham Senior Center can help! As of July 1st, the Center will offer grocery shopping for you. If you would like to sign up for this service, call the Center
for details at (781) 438-1157.

Do you have a few hours a month that you can spend as a grocery shopping volunteer for the elderly? The Senior Center can pair you with a senior citizen who cannot go out to the grocery store to shop for him or herself. If you are interested in making a difference in the life of a homebound senior, call Patsy Stoney at (781) 279-7764. Volunteers must pass a CORI background check.

COMPUTER TRAINING – Thanks to generous donations from Dunkin’ Donuts, Fidelity Investments Foundation and an anonymous senior, Maureen is planning to offer computer training classes this fall. Classes will be geared toward users with little or no knowledge of computers.. Stay tuned for times, dates and class listing.

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM – The town has licenses the CodeRED Community Notification System to help disseminate important or critical information. All residents and businesses are asked to enter their contact information into the system via the town's web site at www.ci.stoneham.ma.us  At the bottom right side of the page, click on CodeRED and enter your adress, name, phone nubmer and e-mail address. Your contact information remains private and will only be used for community notifications. If you do not have access, please contact a friend or family member.

POOL PLAYERS WANTED

Stop by the Senior Center to play pool on our fantastic eight foot slate table built by the Olhausen Company that has earned the title “the best in billiards.”  A group of us are meeting every Friday at 2:00 p.m. and as more players get involved there are plans of forming teams or maybe even a pool league for tournaments.

Mentoring Program
Every Wed 10:00 a.m.
Howard Porter continues to meet with SEEM Collaborative students each Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. to share with them his love of painting and music. His program involves introducing them to different music weekly and asking that they draw what they hear. This program has proven to be a hit and the next set of students are anxious to participate.

SEEM Collaborative accommodates school-aged students who's educational  needs are so unique they cannot be met by special education departments in the local school districts.
